When we landed in St Lucia I was quickly grateful to all those reviews who suggested that you get a private transfer. The buses we saw for other holiday makers quite frankly looked scary and we were grateful to get in an air conditioned taxi. The transfer by taxi was an hour and 40 mins to the hotel.

At first glance the hotel and grounds are stunning and the planting is beautiful but at closer inspection the hotel does needs some TLC. We went to the adults only Hideaway part of the resort which has it's own reception, pool area and bars as well as one adults only restaurant.
On our second week we struggled to get a sun lounger round the adults pool as people would put out towels at 7 am to get the best spots!
The rest of the facilities including restaurants, bars and pools are family friendly so if you are looking for a true adults only experience this may not be the hotel for you.

The staff were usually friendly but some did come across as having no interest in their jobs at all!

The room was huge with a whirlpool bath and twin showers. Our room had a shower leak and it took two complaints and lots of towels catching the drips before we were moved rooms. The mini fridge was stacked with branded soft drinks and water but there was only coffee making facilities with no kettle for beloved tea!

There is an amazing coffee shop on the complex as part of the all inclusive and we spent a lot of time there getting teas, coffees and ice creams from the lovely staff.

There were 6 restaurants to choose from and you had to download their app and could only book two days in advance unless you had the butler service as they managed to book another couple's dining for the whole week. As the hotel got busier we could only book two restaurants for the second week and were at the mercy of the buffet for the rest of the time.
As a gluten allergy sufferer I did find eating a bit of a battle at first but Yazz from F & B notified all of the restaurants who could then include something on the menu for me with the Italian restaurant being our favourite by far!  
The buffet restaurant which anyone could go to was more of an issue as they had labels stating gluten free and when i checked was told the labels were wrong and after this happened for a second time i only ever ate salad and fruit from the buffet as i could not trust the food not to make me ill!

The entertainment was either amazing or truly terrible with the Michael Jackson night being a low point which had us howling with laughter for all the wrong reasons! 
This went on a rolling weekly basis so by our second week we knew what to avoid!

The hotel has nothing in walking distance so it is taxis for all journeys and being at the top of the island meant some expensive taxi rides.

My tip would be to take US dollars and not Eastern Caribbean as we were told to get as the hotel and taxi drivers prefer it. Tipping the bar staff to get served a drink so that you don't end up waiting for ages for a refill.

Overall we had an amazing time but felt the hotel could do more to earn it's status as a five star hotel as I believe in the UK it would only have been a 4 star.

Bucket list holiday

This adventure was for 11 high school friends saying Farewll to the 50s.
What we received upon arriving at resort and was greated by chaos.There was not enough staff to get guests in a timely manor. Room accommodations are far from diamond . Building run down with CONSTANT problems with elevator.  Put reservations 10 months ago for 11 women upon arrival we were given rooms that did not suite our needs. Having purchased the diamond club we are stuck with a queen and a well used roller bed. Further more the staff has not brought a safe to one of our rooms.

High Expectations but low luxury.

It starts with the nightmare cab ride to the place and doesn’t stop. You get there and they can’t figure out how to check you in. You wait hours for your luggage to come to your room. Food is subpar. Never find any help and if you do they really don’t go out of their way. The only pleasant and friendly one was our maid everyone else doesn’t even make eye contact with you. Took 3 days to fix bathtub in room. Overall just a really terrible experience. Never would come to this island again.

Go to a different island

I'd like to say first. The grounds are lovely, however, I did an ocean view room in the diamond club.And I was here for 5 days.3  out of the days the elevator was broken.Dumb stuff like no big cups. No cream for coffee. No ham for eggs benedict. It doesn't make any sense for what they charge. Folks will get up mad early in the morning to save premium seats at the pool and the beach which you're not supposed to do. People hold these spots all day long.And it's not fair. Funny thing about this is I go to Royalton properties every year for a birthday trip.And I'll probably go to another one. But Maybe they need to get theirv act together.

So-so

I want to highly recommend the resort. The rooms are airy, roomy, and clean. The pools are numerous with quiet and peaceful, to rowdy and partying. The resort has restaurants to suit everyone and food everywhere, from grab and go in the lobbies, to sit down formal. But the true gems in this crown of a resort are the kind, caring, professional staff. Sherna, our housekeeper, anticipated needs we didn't know we had until she made everything so much better. She learned our routines and desires and had everything perfect without any fuss. Her training must have been great, but it was her nature that won us over.Her kindness and sweet smile made a resort feel like home. We love you, Sherna.  Our butler, Sylvania, answered every request with, I will take care of that. Sylvania appeared as if by magic as needed to handle it all. He was wonderful. And poor Laverne, our wedding coordinator, has the hardest job, but accomplishes it all with unflappable cheer and professionalism. She knows her stuff, and made it all fun. These people made our trip perfect, and turned it from a stay at a resort into an unforgettable joy. I can't thank them enough. 
 We will return.
