The best beaches in Cyprus

We wait all year, daydreaming of that moment when we’ve passed security, made the transfer, unpacked, changed and finally made it to the beach - toes sinking into hot white sand. Let’s face it the beach has to be one of the things we Brits really look forward to the most when it comes to considering our summer holiday and Cyprus has got this one covered. Whilst of course to say “best” involves a whole heap of subjectivity we’ve made sure that we’ve reviewed a good range of beaches so you can find your perfect escape. After all, Cyprus does boast 57 Blue Flag beaches!

Nissi Beach

A great beach for anyone staying in the Ayia Napa area, we’re told time and again by our customers that Nissi is one of the best beaches they’ve ever visited let alone in Cyprus. Gorgeous white sands, rock pool areas, turquoise water, amazing sunsets… the list of charms is endless. For the more adventurous or younger traveller there are also a number of water sports available and even bungee jumping. The restaurants and bars are also fantastic and nothing beats a sunset cocktail with a sea view.

Tip: Check out the view of Nissi beach from the hill.

Coral Bay

The stunning jewel of the resort to which it lends its’ name Coral Bay is just North of the city of Paphos and a secluded bay of fine sand surrounded by rocks and caves to explore. Also easy to get to as a day trip from Paphos the scenery is stunning, but be aware that there’s not a huge amount going on and many facilities are closed during winter. Definitely a nature lover’s beach as opposed to a thrill seeker.

Tip: When you’ve had enough of beach the legendary St. Paul’s Pillar is a must-see. Culture points too!

Fig Tree Beach

On the east of the Island and in the Protaras resort area this stunning gem is south of the popular Sunrise Beach resort. This beach also vies for the “best beach in Cyprus” title as far as our customers are concerned and this one really does have something for everyone. Beautiful crystal clear water, beach and water sports, choice restaurants and bars a stone’s throw away. Fig Tree Beach and the whole bay resort area is a holiday destination you could visit and experience without ever feeling the need to go off-resort.

Tip: Check out the village and have a go at bargaining, particularly at the end of season.

Konnos Beach

A short drive from either Ayia Napa or Protaras resorts, Konnos beach is perfect for anyone looking for a bit of variety and a change from the resort scenery. Popular with locals this beach might not win an award for most beautiful, secluded or quiet but will give any holiday maker an experience to remember with a chance to see some genuine local life as well as partake in a range of water sports. Whilst it is a very sheltered bay (so don’t expect any surfing) popular sports include paddle boarding and kayaking.

Tip: Take advantage of the amazin floating sunbeds for hire, they float in the water.
