Hotel was sadly closing for the winter, so we could only stay 2 nights. 
However, they staff made every effort even though it was right at the end of the season and we were literally the only guests

Lovely hotel but my original room I was given was a corner one, massive,  1 double , 3 singles but a dull room and smallest balcony. I asked to be moved and was given a top floor . The room was better but the shower had a sliding door missing. The rest of the hotel is excellent in every way. The young lady behind the bar and in the breakfast was so pleasant and helpful. Plenty of food choice, big pool bar and 5 mins to the beach and main bars. Rooms were cleaned every day and staff were polite and cheerful. Ive had a few solo holidays and been given inferior rooms so if your going on your own try and stipulate what type of room you require and read other reviews

We arrived 2pm very helpful reception paid our tax and went straight to the room the room was basic but clean lots of hanging space lovely balcony. The bathroom was nice walk in shower big head shower which if you use you flood the bathroom so we used the hand held shower. Nice big tv bbc news 24/7 but other then that no English channels the hotel is situated just 5 mins to main strip and about 10 mins to beach so positioning was perfect. The breakfast was very good hot and cold selections. Pool area was clean and always beds available at any part of day. If your coming to Kalamaki you can’t go wrong loved our 2 weeks while we were away we had a bit of rain and this made the mozzys come out and we received a few bites. Also the flys did get annoying whilst out having meals would definitely come back to the hotel.

This is my third time in a row to the fabulous Ionion Blue Hotel and like every visit, this was just perfect! A fabulous stay as always with brilliant and very helpful staff from the room cleaners who did a brilliant job, the bar and restaurant staff who were very helpful and the amazing Tetta on the reception desk who was excellent and very helpful and helped with all our needs and went above and beyond to make our stay very comfortable in many ways.
I don't really eat breakfast, but the choice given at this hotel is just perfect, with a good choice for everyone. 
The hotel is clean and tidy and overall very good. It's set in the Zakynthos countryside, so don't be surprised if sheep cross your path. 10 minutes walk to either Crystal Beach or Kalamaki Beach and a two minute walk to the main strip for shops or  restaurants. 
A perfect location for everybody. We loved our stay and yes, we will return! One great holiday, so thanks to all who made it this way! See you next year and thanks again!

One Excellent Holiday!

God where to start! I’ve been going to Kalamaki for 20 years now to another Hotel but could not get into that this year. So we opted for the Ionion Blue as it was in the same area we were accustomed too! On the surface it looks good, Grand, Pool, Pool Bar, Palm Trees, Grass cut etc. However the reality of staying there is another story (For Sure!)
We had to change rooms on the first day. We arrived late so we made a cup of Tea and intended to go to bed after that. However the Kettle was not a stand alone kettle and was a strange set up. It was like a food tray with the electrical part within the tray, and the kettle was placed on the tray to boil . We filled it to where the max mark was enough for 2 mugs. It boiled over and would not switch off. Which in turn tripped the electrics in our room. So my husband had to feel around in the dark with his phone torch for the fuze board and it took us for attempts to stop the lights from tripping. Needless to say after that performance we went straight to bed without our cup of Tea. I was awoken at 5am with young children constantly running up and down the room above. The material lamp shades on each side of the bed were cello taped to the frame and kept falling onto the hot light bulb. The room was basic nothing fancy. And at this point I will add it cost us £1,852.00 for 10 days with Jet2.
On arrival the receptionist spoke little English and stated if you want Safe, Air Con plus bedroom Tax IS €160!!
She spoke to us like we were Morons. We moved to the 3rd floor. Bigger room. However we had NO HOT WATER for 7 days until we saw the rep. The shower head was so crusted up with limescale only 4 jets were working and the tap handle came off in my Husbands hand. The sheets were changed twice in 10days. The towels when they felt like it. The beds were not made properly. And there were crumbs on my bedside table for 5 days. The bath mat was replaced twice in 10 days but both mats were old and covered in bleach stains and ground in dirt! There is NO Security after midnight. Only a telephone number to call. The main entrance is closed and we had to use the back entrance to get to our room. The landing lights were not working on our floor at night, it was treacherous. The lights were turned off on the stairs closest to us also, how anyone hasn’t had a serious accident falling down those stairs I don’t know. The Breakfast is of poor quality and I only ate once. We do not have young children but I’d like to mention that the small child’s play area is condemned and just had 1 trampoline that was broken and a death trap. The receptionists Son was the only child allowed in there! The loungers are old and a lot of them were broken. You are not allowed to move the umbrellas so when the sun moves round you are  in the shade so everyone was moving the whole beds round to catch the Sun. The kids inflatables were left all around the pool area all day and all night which made it difficult to walk around the pool area. The pool area was not cleaned properly. The pool was not cleaned while we were there. The water was tested I spotted but no nets cleaning flies out etc etc. finally we asked for a late check out. Our flight was at 1800 hrs and we had to check out at 10am. We were offered 1 hour extra free. We checked out at 11am. We observed our room from the pool bar while waiting for the coach transfer to the airport and NO ONE went into it. It was not cleaned for new guests! So WHY we couldn’t have a late check out is mystifying There is NO SECURE ROOM to place your cases. We were offered to put them in a little BAR AREA by reception which had a half swing door with no lock. So if the reception lady went off the area was insecure. So we had to put anything valuable in our ruck sacks and keep them with us until the transfer picked us up at 2.30pm.  We took our elderly parents out there and they had to pay €100 to extend their room till 5pm as they were on a different flight to us. 
Please please if you’re looking at this Hotel for a Holiday stay avoid it! You will be very dissatisfied and disappointed. The Greek tourist Board have this down as 4 star Jet2 3 star. 
In my opinion it’s a 2 star and certainly NOT WORTH €1852.00.
We will be writing to Jet2 and we were not the only people during those 10 days that had the same opinion. Everyone I spoke to said they would never return to the Ionion Blue!
