Mdina

Mdina was once the capital of Malta and is in the centre of the island providing good opportunities to venture around the rest of the island’s towns and hotspots. Malta’s current capital ‘Valletta’ and the popular town of ‘Sliema’ are both just a 25-minute drive away.

Mdina is a medieval city which dates back over 4000 years. It is famous for its timeless atmosphere as well as cultural and religious traits. Otherwise known as the ‘silent city’, Mdina is a popular tourist attraction and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city is surrounded by fortified walls and sits on top of one of the highest hills in Malta which offers amazing views of surrounding villages, crop fields and the Mediterranean Sea. Enjoy day trips to visit the palaces, churches and squares in the streets and alleys, you can also find several souvenir shops and quality restaurants in central Mdina.

Its neighbouring town ‘Rabat’ was once an agricultural town but today is known for its quiet, more rural character and natural beauty. Offering just a few key attractions such as museums and a few forested areas known to the country. Neither of the towns are packed with staying guests making them both a perfect spot to enjoy a more laid-back, traditional and cultural side of Malta during your break.
