The hotel had a great location across from the marina where you can go out on day trips on boats. Plus there's restaurants nearby and it's an easy walk down to a beach. The staff was great and they even got breakfast ready for us earlier on the day we left as we had to catch a train. Would stay there again.

Good hotel, good location, great staff!

We stayed at the Hotel Marina Rio for six nights as part of an organized hiking trip. Besides the great location overlooking the Lagos Marina, the hotel was outstanding! Recently renovated and very modern, the rooms are very comfortable, well-designed and well-equipped. The stairs and hallways are spacious and well-light, and the cleaning staff do an outstanding job. I wish more hotels were this good!

A Very Modern Hotel on the Lagos waterfront.

For a solo traveler who was out and about most of the time, this was the perfect spot. It seems new, and it was very clean and nice with a friendly staff. I loved that it was next to the bus station and walking distance to the train station. I didn't have a room with a marina view, but it's also nice that it's across the street from the marina and boat tours. I'm a walker, so it was easy to walk anywhere in Lagos. It was a great value in March. Not sure what the prices are like during busy season. I highly recommend this hotel!

Perfect location and nice accommodations

The hotel has been beautifully refurbished… standard rooms are not large … they are however very nicely styled … blues connecting into the sea water beyond, adorned with lovely cushions, a sitting chair and pretty bed throws. We had a balcony overlooking the marina which was very special. Tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge were all working well.

The rooftop pool looked gorgeous with lots of nice sitting / lounging space on two levels … unfortunately it was raining when we were there so we didn’t try them out.

Breakfast was tasty if a little crowded … it’s a self serve buffet … a nice cold buffet selection, with some hot eggs and bacon available … we enjoyed the breakfast very much although we were wondering why given how much mostly unused space there is on the ground floor, why was breakfast served in such a small space?

The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout… very smiley and keen to ensure we had everything we needed.

Highlights undoubtedly being the staff, the room and the balcony… had it been sunny, I’m sure I’d be adding the rooftop pool and loungers to that list.

We very much enjoyed our brief stay at the hotel.

Great location, spotlessly clean and a good practical base for exploring Lagos and surrounding area

This small hotel is a wonderful place to stay in Lagos. It is extremely clean, quiet, and well-run. The staff are lovely and very accommodating. Breakfast (can be added to room rates) is excellent.

The hotel faces the marina, and the view is stunning. The rooms at the back overlook the bus station. It’s a little move expensive to book a room overlooking the marina, but well worth it, in my opinion.

The rooms are spotless and kept that way by the excellent housekeepers, who make the bed, mop the floors, clean the bathrooms and priced fresh towels each day (or when requested). 

The hotel was completely renovated several years ago, so disregard any reviews older than four years, as they are not accurate about the room’s  decor and features. The rooms are extremely well insulated- never heard the adjoining rooms or the street noise, when patio door was closed. 

We are already planning our next trip to stay in our new favorite hotel in the Algarve.

This cosy, family-run hotel is excellently located in the centre of the charming town of Lagos, overlooking the promenade and the marina. The historic old town with its picturesque streets, shops, boutiques, restaurants, bars and attractions such as the ancient slave market or the statue of Henry the Navigator is just a few steps away. The sandy beaches of Meia-Praia and Dona Ana and several excellent golf courses are within easy reach.
