Great hotel , large rooms and lovely grounds . We will definitely visit again. As other reviews have mentioned the rooms are a little tired and some of the staff are disinterested. However , the rooms were clean and cleaned again every day . The grounds were well maintained and pretty. Great location for walking into Luz. Huge buffet breakfast . Really good value for money . 
There is a hotel  car park (of sorts) but it's €10 per day!! , so we parked on the street , perhaps in high season it's needed but certainly wasn't needed when we were there

Great Value Hotel

AVOID THIS HOTEL!!
It certainly is not a 4*
It is lucky to be worthy of a 2*
I’ve never stayed in such an awful hotel.
Firstly the reception is where the bar is, basically it’s not a lounge you’d sit in, nor did I see anyone sit there at all.
We had a room on the first floor, very small spiral staircase to get a suitcase up was extremely hard, the lift was apparently broken.
The room is big but lacks charm and character, however it does have a fridge, strangely the tv was in the bedroom and not the lounge area?
The sofa was full of stains and uninviting
 
The beds? What can I say, they were like camp beds, 2 singles pushed together.
The mattresses were hard and pillows very soft but very very lumpy and very small hid know how old they are, never ever seen pillows so lumpy.

We did have a nice view but that was it.

Even the balcony was undesirable to sit out.
The lights were very low and made the room dark, which made  putting makeup on hard.
There were some holes in the walls and it just felt unclean, the floor was filthy. Don’t know what the cleaners do apart from spray the room to make it smell clean.
And change towel if needed but you only get 1 hand towel, 2 females with long hair to wash need two hand towels.

The toilet inside needed a extremely good clean.

The shower was from the taps not an actual shower which went cold after the not even the first shampoo, we could showers properly the whole time we were there.
We complained about the shower going cold to be told one can’t shower straight after the other!!
We told them it was one person and it went cold after only 5 minutes if that, they said they’d take a look at it but not one had been in to look at it.

The included breakfast was dismal, very little selection, it was only open from 8.30 to 9.30
The English breakfast hot dog sausages and eggs were  swimming in water.
Barely any fruits and no choice of different yogurts.
They turn off the heat for the hot breakfast well before 9.30.
We went twice as it was paid for but couldn’t stomach it anymore.
The grounds of the hotel looked nice but this hotel needs some TLC and a deep clean.
Staff could be more accommodating.
Won’t be going back!

Avoid this barely 2* Hotel, deplorable to say the least.

The pillows were great , also so was the service . I just had a basic room but it was perfect . On a solo trip just wanted some R & R and I know there's not a lot of places open this time of year and I can't fault it ! Best trip eva thanks , i will defo b bk xxx

Awesome

Definitely not a 4* hotel, not even a 3* maybe a 2.5* & that's at a push. One of the most disappointing stay's I've ever experienced, when you can't wait to leave the hotel - then it's bad. On arrival the front desk manager Bruno was very helpful & friendly tried to accommodate us wherever he could, Fernando on the other hand was very rude & avoided him. The room's, we didn't feel clean when we got into the bed's, the blankets looked & felt like they had never been washed. The bed's were rickety & worn, When you walk around in bare feet you feel grit on the floor but yet we leave our shoes at the entrance to the room! We had the breakfast twice & it was horrible & had breakfast elsewhere for the rest of the week, you could bounce the egg's off the wall they were so hard & rubbery, a lot of it looked like it was left over from the previous day. 
The location is great but that's as far as it goes, This hotel may say it's A 4 STAR HOTEL, Iv'e stayed in 3*, 4* & 5* hotel's around the world & this is 2*, great for backpacking, I ignored the low score reviews when I was booking thinking it was people just being salty, don't make the same mistake.

Most disappointing stay I've ever experienced

I came across several bad reviews about this hotel but decided to give it a chance anyway—unfortunately, they were absolutely accurate. This is not a 4-star hotel by any means; at best, it might qualify as a 2-star.

My room was far from clean. There was dust everywhere, and I found dead flies on the ceiling in both the bedroom and bathroom. The towels and bed sheets were stained, which was unacceptable. Even worse, the door to my room showed clear signs of having been forcibly opened at some point, which made me feel very unsafe.

The main pool was out of service during our stay, and we were never informed of this in advance. The alternative pool had toilets nearby that were in a truly disgusting state. Inside the room, the safe didn’t have a lock, the drawer in the wardrobe was broken, and there was water leaking from the boiler onto the fridge.

While the hotel’s exterior gives off a nice impression, the inside tells a completely different story—it’s lacking in many areas. Serious improvements are needed before this hotel can be considered anything close to 4-star quality.

Not Even Close to a 4-Star Experience

This enchanting complex features a unique situation just a few steps from Praia da Luz's beautiful sandy beach and offers stunning views over the sea and to the surrounding mountainous landscape. Ranging from spacious rooms to fully-equipped apartments, the hotel's accommodation units have been designed to guarantee a comfortable night's sleep and a relaxing stay. They all have been decorated in warm colours and include a private bathroom for guests' convenience. In the outdoor area, visitors will find 4 magnificent swimming pools surrounded by sun decks and chairs, and those wishing to enjoy a unique moment of relaxation can visit the sauna and Turkish bath. The onsite dining options include a buffet restaurant serving delicious specialities as well as a bar.
