Excellent location, great view, Good shopping in the area whether you want restaurants or groceries.
The only downside we found was the venue across the street played extremely loud music on occasion

The entertainment team at the Vila Gale Ampalius really made the holiday. Their enthusiasm and spirit is so touching and we will remember how they made it so special. To amazing Micheline, Valdemir, Manuel, Thiago, Vasco, Cecilia and Rebeca. Sabor do Portugal. Sabor do Brasil.

Such a special time full of heart

What a super location, easy transfer from Faro Airport. The hotel is so close to the beach and the marina with a variety of lovely restaurants and bars, all within 5/6 minutes walk. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was magnificent such a variety to choose from. I enjoyed sitting in the cafe reading my book sipping a glass of wine or hot chocolate! Rooms were spotlessly clean. If weather is not suitable for outdoor pool there is an indoor pool with sauna, steam room, jacuzzi etc. Look forward to coming back!

Super location and friendly and helpful staff.

This was my very first solo holiday at Vila Gale Ampalius and the location of this hotel was excellent, right on the beach. I had a superior twin room with balcony and beach view and it was amazing. The room had a little kitchenette and I brought my own travel kettle to make a cup of tea every morning. I was able to keep my milk and drinks in the fridge and also food items that I bought from the local Spar around the corner. The rooms were cleaned every day and was spotless. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. There is a an amazing little cafe on site that do lovely coffees, cakes and sandwiches and I frequented this daily. I love my coffee very hot and this was perfect.  Breakfast at The Ampalius was also delicious, you have all types of fresh fruit, yogurts, breads, pastries, cakes and also a station where they can cook eggs to your liking.  The beautiful Marina is a 5 minute walk away and I ate here every day. There is a spa and indoor pool but I never saw this, I sat round by the one of the two pools everyday. You can get your towels from the spa area. I would definitely stay here again, I was only here a week but would have loved to stayed longer.

Fantastic Hotel and location

Been here several times, but this was my first solo trip. 

I had a basic twin room with no balcony, on the 4th floor overlooking the rear of the hotel. It was clean and functional and the bed was comfortable. Bathroom had a walk in shower with decent toiletries. I couldn’t get the room window to close fully but that was not an issue for me. Housekeeping came every day.

I had a hire car and was able to park it for free in the hotel’s adjacent car park. I am not sure what it is like in peak season, but I had no issues finding a space. Beware that the car park in front of the hotel run by the local authority so there is a charge. Alternatively you can pay €10 a day to park in the hotel’s underground car park.

The weather was mixed during my stay and mainly breezy which meant sitting around the main pools was not an option;  the kids pool at the back is more sheltered so most people went there. 

Went to the hotel’s Italian for lunch one day and it was reasonably priced with nice food. The cafe also does reasonably priced drinks - a small beer is €1.70. 

Only did the breakfast once on the day I was leaving and it was quiet as it was around 7am - there was a decent selection of food. 

Overall it was a good stay and decent value although some parts of the hotel, the corridors and lifts, are starting to look dated.

A decent stay in a good location

This modern hotel is situated in the popular holiday resort of Vilamoura, only a few steps from the casino and the internationally renowned marina. The lovely sandy beach is less than a minute, the resort centre with its large variety of restaurants, bars, pubs and shops is less than 5 minutes away. Several excellent golf courses are within easy reach, Faro International Airport can be reached within 30 minutes by car.
