This hotel is rated 3 1/2 stars and was half decent. A little dated but a friendly environment and a great staff. Location was great with a grocery store right down stairs. Make sure you get a room with mini kitchen and an ocean view. Shout out to Tanya in the breakfast buffet, she was very helpful and pleasant.

Florasol Residence Funchal

The staff were faultless, nothing was to much trouble, the room was large and the beds were very comfortable and a well equipped and clean kitchen and bathroom. Breakfast was great with fresh omelettes every morning and plenty of choice, We have already booked for next year.

Fantastic sea view

We stayed here recently for our Christmas vacation. We paid €100 for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dinners. The food was absolutely disgusting. Christmas Eve was severely lacking and we had vegetables and bread. Christmas Day was boiled chicken and bacon lasagne. We ended up with bread again. When I complained to reception, I was told that no management was available. I won’t be staying again

Shocking Food

We love this hotel! We stayed here for 4 weeks, everything was wonderful! We had a studio with sea view, room was very spacious with kitchenette and en suite, all amenities were very clean and beautiful! Our balcony was large with rattan corner seating settee and table and 2 chairs for outside dining, sea view and view of our street, great for sitting with glass of wine watching the world go by....bliss! Once back in room close balcony door and peace and quiet! Breakfast was great, lots of choice, good coffee and choices of tea, fruit juices etc. We had dinner a few times and it was always lovely and good value for price. Bar prices are also good value for price. The hotel was kept very clean and tidy at all times. Staff were all friendly, kind and helpful. Outside spaces were lovely, lots of different areas to sit reading, chatting, eating , drinking and sun bathing. We cannot fault this hotel and we will definitely be returning.  Thank you to all the staff at Florasol......we had a wonderful 4 weeks!

Wonderful 4 weeks at Florasol.

Positives, staff very friendly and helpful. Reception made us very welcome and our maid, who we only used once did a first class job. Great sea view watching storms roll in and away, our room was comfortable.
Negatives. A bit of maintenance is required, squeaking doors, bathroom has a sliding door which isn’t really appropriate, both  balconies are very small. There is an area on the wall near the door to one of the balconies where the plaster is blown and needs repairing. Whilst comfortable the apartment as with many areas needs updating. The kitchenette had most things required but there wasn’t a tea towel until the maid cleaned the room and there wasn’t a cork screw/bottle opener, we had to buy one!
The food at breakfast was acceptable but without variation. Can’t comment on other catering as we ate out everyday.
The pool area is plenty big enough but the beds need replacing (cushions do!), as they aren’t brought in when it rains and a couple even blew into the pool!
Bar. Well it’s not what I would expect a bar to be as it is set to one side of the restaurant and doesn’t exactly look inviting.
The location is excellent with plenty of bars and restaurants, easy access to promenades for walking and downtown Funchal is 15 minutes walk.
Will we return? Possibly if there are improvements, but a return to Funchal is booked for October but not here.

Tired and dated, great location.

Enjoying fantastic sea views, this comfortable hotel is conveniently situated on the main street of the Lido area of Funchal, the capital of Madeira.
