My mom and I recently stayed for a week start of April.
We normally stay at the Yarama (sister hotel) currently closed for refurb.
Yep, the rooms on the side street have limited sea views and sun, but we knew that.
Everything was spotlessesly clean. Like the Yarama, which took out the baths to save water use, the shower set up [here] was annoying. Ridiculous glass swing door and step up to access shower meant water kept going on the floor. Towels deployed.
Deal breaker for us was the food - very poor.
I don't eat meat (do eat fish though) - really struggled to pull a meal together. Fish offer was very limited and no chance if you're vegetarian - only one night there was a decent offer (veggie lasagne and burgers).
The food looks unappealing, and is very outdated and mismatched.
Mom said the roast meats were dry. She opted for salad most nights as the veg looked vile.
And, as another review said - the junks of jelly!!?? 4 star food?? I think not. Guests deserve better.

Outdated evening meal

Stayed at the Angela for 7 days mid  April. We read the reviews on Tripadvisor before we traveled and did not believe the bad reviews about the food and the rooms etc, but I’m afraid they were accurate and truthful.
The best thing about the rooms was the balcony which appeared to have been decorated recently and a very nice glass screen. But the room was not 4 star quality,it was small the beds were very small and not very comfortable and the bathroom was very smelly and needed an upgrade but on the plus side room was kept clean by the staff.
The food quality was very poor and restaurant staff were borderline rude,we have eaten better food at 2 and 3 star hotels . We decided to eat out even though we had paid for half board this was on a 4star hotel. A suggestion the restaurant appeared to go for quantity rather than quality!.
But on the plus side the hotel location was very good near the beach,shops, restaurants and public transport

Loved this Hotel ,the location was really good ,beach , bars , restaurants and shops all close by 
. 
All public areas were clean and comfortable ,with quiet areas if you wanted to read , or just chill . Snack bar by the pool was good and reasonably priced and the pool itself looked lovely ,with plenty sunbeds .

Rooms were spotless ,bathroom good , bed really comfortable  ,lots of English TV channels if you wanted .Free safe was a bonus , and we paid 10 euros for the fridge for the week , which we found very useful .

We had no problems in the restaurant ,there was plenty of choice ,for both breakfast and dinner  and always hot .We went to dinner at 8 ,so was pretty quiet as happy hour started in the bar at that time . The Staff worked really hard .

It was reasonably priced , and i thought great value for money , as we had looked at self catering close by ,and the prices were similar for a lot less facilities . 

Will definitely be back

Value for money

Having just returned from a wonderful two weeks’ holiday at the Hotel Angela with my husband, I feel compelled to give an honest and objective review. This was my first stay at the hotel and I felt quite anxious, having read numerous negative reviews but I am so glad I didn’t allow them to deter me. I think these poor reviews are extremely unfair and inaccurate and I find it hard to believe that they refer to this very good hotel. The central location of the hotel is excellent and it certainly stands out along the promenade as being very well kept and modern looking. On arrival, check in was quick and the reception staff were exceptionally polite, friendly and helpful. Indeed, throughout our stay, the efficiency, service and helpfulness of the staff was first class. Our room overlooked the pool area with side sea view, which was most pleasant and attracted the afternoon sunshine. The hotel was very clean throughout and the bar prices were incredibly reasonable for a 4 star hotel, especially during Happy Hour. The evening entertainment was completely suitable for the clientele and there was always a seat to be found to enjoy the shows. The food has received particularly bad reviews but as this is a buffet style restaurant in a large hotel, catering en-masse, I think it compares well with other similar hotels. Breakfast was lovely, with plenty of hot and cold choices and there were never more than one or two people at the coffee machine, despite the restaurant being busy most mornings. The coffee was very good quality. The atmosphere was very relaxed and pleasant at dinner and I always found something tasty from the wide range of options. I chose fish most evenings, as it is my favourite, which was varied, well cooked and accompanied by vegetables or salad, provided a satisfying meal, complemented by fresh fruit and a choice from the delicious ice cream assortment for dessert. My husband tried a variety of dishes and was happy with them all. If certain items of food were depleted, they were quickly replenished.  I like my food hot and I appreciate this is a very difficult ask from a buffet service but if required, a quick blast from the microwave ensured the dishes were quickly piping hot and I never once queued to use it. I’ve not seen a microwave at any other hotel and I think this is a simple and very sensible facility to offer.  The generous opening hours of the restaurant allowed us great flexibility with timings for breakfast and dinner.  Overall, I cannot fault anything about the hotel and we will certainly be returning next year.  Thank you to everyone at the Hotel Angela for making our stay so enjoyable and memorable.

Superb Hotel

On the whole a good hotel, I feel some of the bad reviews are not being fair but I would rate it a 3 plus . Many people have moaned about the food I really don’t know what some people want, there is always a roast on with plenty of veg and potatoes with other choices like chicken portions, curry , grilled meats and lovely fish also pasta and rice with various sauces. The salad bar is lovely and plentiful with meats, fish, cheeses , crackers etc a choice of two soups and lovely bread , a good selection of sweets and fruit also on offer.Breakfast also has plenty of choice hot and cold. The lounge bar is a lovely area although we only used it twice as we prefer to go out after our meal. NOW the pool I have never seen so many towels sunbathing yes the usual people with nothing better to do on holiday than queue for beds fortunately we prefer the beach. Rooms are okay but could do better 3 star for these although the beds are comfy and the staff do an excellent job cleaning. All the staff were very nice throughout the hotel. I would recommend a visit to the Bio Park a lovely place and a good price 22 euros each for pensioners it’s about half hour walk from the hotel also use the train to Benalmadena or Malaga or go by bus to Mijas very pretty place be sure to visit the bull ring.

Good hotel

The hotel was completely renovated 2013. Located 20m from the beach, 1.5 km from Fuengirola town center and 24 km from Malaga airport. It comprises a total of 9 floors with a total of 261 rooms. The train station is 20 meters away. Located 7-8km from the golf course.
