This was the second time we stayed here the first time was for Christmas 2023 but this time we stayed for Christmas and New year what can I say it was excellent from start to finish the Christmas and new-year gala dinners was amazing compared to the previous year. Staff very helpful as we had a fussy eater but they sorted it out for us. The rest of the hotel staff friendly and very helpful especially Gloira who remembered us from the previous year and what we drank  can't wait to book again

Christmas 2024

Outside, the hotel looks very impressive but entering the reception area all was dull and lifeless.
No guests could be seen seen in the foyer or rooms off.
Check in easy, though surprised to see a notice saying sunbeds cost 5 euros a session.
Hotel room on front with lovely views of sea and mountains. Room decent size, clean and functional.
Safe free but substantial charge for use of fridge.
Restaurant soulless with sullen, very miserable, waiting staff. Food varied but repetitive with most meats being inedible as overcooked and standing on the buffet did not help. Fish dishes similar. Hot foods generally barely warm. Just as well there was a microwave. Decent supply of fresh fruit each day but puddings generally bought in  sloppy cream sponge cakes.
Long trouser rule in evenings ignored by several slobbish tshirt and sports shorts wearers. Tailored shorts allowed but those on display fell well short of the description. Weak restaurant management just ignored it.
Hand sanitising on entering restaurant not monitored.
The two, very expensive Gala Dinners were exceedingly poor on food quality and preparation. Judging by the amount of food that went back for the slop bins indicated that I was not alone in my condemnation.
Entertainment was repetitive.
The hotel closes for refurbishment early January.
Let's hope with reopening with fresh decor the staff will be trained to treat guests in a more friendly manner as, after all, we are paying their wages.

Holiday best forgotten.

Spent Christmas at this hotel, absolutely fabulous. Food was excellent, the cleaning staff were so friendly and made a great effort to speak English. The only problem I encountered was that the rest of the staff made no effort with the English language

Very Enjoyable

As I entered the hotel prior to checking in I was met by an outgoing guest who said "Welcome to Hotel Geriatrica" I thought what did he mean.
Soon found out, I am over 80 but felt that with the odd exception that the majority of guests were  or acted very elderly. Never in over 30 years of holidays in Spain have I come across a more miserable establishment. The reception staff were amenable and well informed. The restaurant staff gave the impression that they were told to suck a lemon before reporting for duty, as a smile was never forthcoming, except from one young lady member, for the whole of my fortnight stay.
Food was generous, but the meat, generally speaking, apart from just one pork dish, probably came from the Dunlop Rubber Co.
The restaurant management never challenged the slobbish behaviour of guests flaunting the long trouser rule at evening meal. Tailored shorts were allowable but guests just wore ordinary shorts and sandals morning, noon and night.
The two, very expensive Gala Nights were the worst ever encountered in Spain.
The food was of poor quality and badly prepared. The chef would have known this from the vast amount of uneaten food that went into the slop bin at the conclusion of each meal.
I have never been to a hotel where there is a charge for using a pool sunbed. On reception there is a sign proclaiming that to have a sunbed will cost 5 euros.
I suppose that given the fact the hotel is closing for refurbishment for about 3 months could account for the sullen staff.
I also came across what I consider to be blatant overcharging for having a single occupancy room. My holiday cost approxiamately £1000 more than 2 people occupancy . This I could appreciate if the hotel had been full, it was far from full.
Management were never approached as I felt that nothing constructive could or would happen.

The anticipation was far better than the event.

Room was ok very noisy was woken at 2.30 am by people scraping chairs or furniture across the floor banging doors people not very friendly can't wait to go home for the peace and quiet food plenty of choice but just warm this hotel is just for regulars who return year after year at meal times it's like a stampede people pushing and shoving you out the way sorry yaramar won't be returning to this hotel again going back to my regular one in fuengerola
