I would say that this hotel was worth the price we paid. It was incredibly cheap for an all inclusive for four people in the school holidays. Views are amazing, nice well equipped rooms, both pools are great and we always found a sun bed. 

Food was ok, lots of choice but then like all all inclusives, everything starts to taste the same after a while. There was something for everyone though and was always impressed by the offerings of fresh fruit with every meal. 

Hotel is pretty dated with a sketchy lift. We opted to take the stairs when getting around. It’s easy to ignore any of the cons of the hotel when you have such nice views and can just sit on a sun bed in the blazing sunshine all day!

Good hotel for the money

Suite of rooms for our family of 5 was  really spacious with great view of the sea, all inclusive food was very decent, one of the best we have experienced with something for everyone (fantastic guacamole every day). Not for everyone if you don’t like stairs .. Only thing I’d say is there could be more equipment in gym (maybe a  rowing machine) and the machines they have could do with a service.. maybe time of year but no insect bites for any of us o this trip.

Great family break

Well what can I saw about this hotel? We are still here, the rooms are beautiful and spacious. The food is excellent plenty of choice in cluding salads, cheeses u name it it's there, snack time burgers pizza hotdogs chicken burgers, all inclusive drinks are crap  if I'm honest but most of the staff are friendly, old bar man bit miserable but I could make him laugh, plenty if sun beds, nothing a problem for them, comfy beds and a cable car lift which is great, defo a lovely hotel including seeing the entertainment staff do bingo

Wonder ful hotel

Booked a family holiday for 16 of us at the altamar hotel in August 2024. We upgraded to all inclusive as they had a deal in connection with booking a superior sea view room through Jet2.

First impressions were ok. However, we arrived late (9:35pm) by time we checked in there was no food or drinks available at the bar even for all inclusive guests, not a great start. All rooms have a sea view bar a hand full where palm trees block the view. Some have smaller terraces but the majority are spacious and equipped with sun loungers and a table and chairs the rooms are basic any more than 3 people though and it’s a little cramped. Bedding sheets for couch beds are limited along with pillows. Room keys and other normal basic things are charged as extras when you request more than one.

Next morning we woke up to an amazing view and a very nice breakfast. 

The breakfast and lunch options are the best offerings with snack time and dinner nothing to get excited about. The day time staff are so much friendlier and helpful. However, one member of the evening staff (Soufian) was fantastic. Each night he would put a table together for the 16 of us. He was always polite and had a smile on his face, so a big thank you to him, shame all the staff aren’t like him. Especially the bar staff, you almost feel like an inconvenience to the bar staff who work in the evenings. They are rude and impatient, we experienced drinks being slammed on the bar and people being told they had run out of certain drinks as they couldn’t be bothered to walk to the fridge and look. The choice is also very limited to a basic selection of spirits even though the bar is full of all top brands behind the all inclusive options. For those who choose to pay for food and drinks the service is quite different and staff seem more friendly. The soft drinks tasted rich in sugar and we were heard many people complaining about the quality of these. 

There are two lifts in the hotel one that serves the A side and one for the B side. The restaurant and bar area are on the B side. These are external to the hotel itself and get a lot of use. The wait for the lift can be long at certain times. There are steps also and going down isn’t too much of an issue if you don’t mind the walk but coming back up can get very tiring. Considering we were on the 7th out of 8 floors and the restaurant on the 4th floor. The steps are step and narrow, and corridors running in various directions it can take a couple of days to figure out the maze. 

The pool and sun beds are good with fantastic views again of the amadores coast line out to the horizon of the Atlantic. The weather was a perfect 27 degrees daily and a coastal breeze to keep you cool. Pool area was clean and no sign of fighting for beds. Again the A side and B side have their own pools however the A side allows floats and balls the B side pool doesn’t.
There is also a pool table and dart board at the B pool. 

Evening entertainment is basic and normally last 50 minutes this is held in the restaurant. There were several good acts whilst we stayed but over very quickly.

The beach is only 5 minutes in a taxi or walking distance if you don’t mind walking down. Taxi recommended to come back up, they are always available outside and €5 will get a family of 4 down or back up.

Overall the hotel is Ok! But when you pay £3k for a week you expect better, last pitas or hotel orquidea in Bahia feliz is a far better choice in my opinion

Looks good on a computer screen

We have just stayed here all inclusive for 4 nights and had a gorgeous stay. 
For 2 picky eaters the all inclusive was fab , drinks could’ve been better but the prices for non all inclusive (food and drink) were extortionate imo. The only negative is the lift , can take forever, there is only 2 lifts for the whole hotel . My tip would be to request a room on level 4 (with the restaurant and pool on this level). Everything else lovely pool, staff (some could smile more), views.

Hotel Altamar is set above Amadores Bay, with impressive sea views. The property has 2 outdoor swimming pools and attractive gardens. Altamar offers spacious apartments, with large terraces and sea views. They all have a ceiling fan in the room and the living space and bedroom, satellite TV and a safe. The well-equipped kitchens includes a ceramic hob, fridge and microwave. The hotel is just 1km from Amadores Beach, in a quiet area of Puerto Rico. Anfi Tauro Golf Course is nearby. It offers free parking on site. The Altamar has a restaurant and a snack bar, open from 08:00 until 00:00 daily. It also has a 24-hour reception, a supermarket and a self-service laundry. Free Wi-Fi access is available at reception. The hotel also offers luggage storage and a courtesy room with shower, for guest to enjoy before check-out.
