One of the best holidays I have been on with my family. The staff were amazing, so lovely and accommodating.
Barcy kids club was unreal for the kids and the staff were excellent. 
The all inclusive was great with wide range of food options.

Barcelo Tenerife
Background facts. We are a couple in their late 70s who have been lucky enough to have many holidays mostly with TUI in the last 25 years. Some brilliant, some good,some mediocre but this was really poor.
We were booked for two weeks starting late February  in a Royal level Seaview room at a cost of over £6000.  A waste of money. 
Main points. 
Be aware that the hotel is very close to the airport and on the flight path, which means there is a very loud, low flying aircraft overhead every four minutes during the day.
The bedroom was tired and gloomy. In dire need of updating. The bathroom, shower and toilet area are below basic.
We booked a Seaview room, but there was no Seaview unless you were standing ..otherwise just three blank walls around you when sitting out. 
The room mini bar was only replenished on request and payment. Really?? This is claimed to be a five star hotel. You can sit outside at any of the bars and drink alcohol all day, but to get a soft drink in your room you have to pay!!
Coffee cups don’t even fit into the coffee machine so unusable. Laughable basic detail. 
Royal level swimming pool area. This is squeezed between an outside road and the hotel basketball court. Very crowded with very uncomfortable basic loungers.
Food. The biggest disappointment of the entire holiday. 
Breakfast…a reasonable cooked choice but never hot.  Gave up after 3 days and just had pancakes and fruit.  
Lunch  tepid soup, lukewarm meat, potatoes, pasta and vegetables. Good salad, fruit and desert. 
Dinner..as lunch. Nothing was hot…everything was lukewarm. 
No real advantage to the royal level dining..in fact less choice to main course. 
Evenings. Nowhere pleasant to sit indoors. 2 very small bars..inadequate poor seating.  Maybe fine in high summer when it’s warm outside but not in Winter / spring. 
Visited the 2 special restaurants. First one was so cold all the diners were wearing outdoor jackets. The food in the second one was so awful that we left without finishing. 
So I’m afraid to say that all in all the whole holiday was a great disappointment.  
The one really good part of the hotel were the staff who were wonderful.  Friendly and helpful. Couldn’t fault them. 
Hotel at best is a 3* and that is being generous.

This is a great hotel. It is well laid out and beautifully maintained. The rooms are huge and many of them have sea views. All of the staff (reception, bars and restaurant) are pleasant and courteous and provide efficient service with a smile. We were there for almost 5 weeks and have stayed at this hotel 4 or 5 times in the past. There are several speciality restaurants though we don't use those. We are happy with the buffet style restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Special mention to Ana on the desk, but actually they are all great. There are two bars that have different live entertainment every night, as well as fitness classes etc during the day. if you have mobility issues you may want to consider a mobility aid but otherwise the staff take you to breakfast etc on a busy as it is a large hotel on a fairly steep incline. The staff go out of their way to help with any issues you have, we can strongly recommend this hotel.

We love this hotel

Very nice hotel, friendly, helpful staff, excellent food, although in need of some TLC. A large hotel on several levels, which, depending on the location of your room means quite a lot of walking between room, facilities and restaurant. Fine for us, as it helped walk off the good food, but might be an issue for older or less mobile guests. Be aware that the hotel is very close to the airport and in the flight path of planes taking off and landing so constant plane noise. Didn't bother us as we live close to an airport, but worth being aware of it. However, brilliant in respect of the transfer time which is maximum 30 mins, more like 20. As a couple, we like to immerse ourselves in the local culture and history. We found this aspect very limited from our perspective. Mount Teide and a nature reserve next to the hotel, and then it just seemed to be holiday properties, and hotels. We were recommended to visit a pretty fishing village which in our opinion, turned out to be hotels and more hotels. However  the climate is such that Tenerife is great for exercising, swimming cycling, running, walking etc, or if you prefer, just eating drinking and sunbathing!!    

Barcelo Golf del Sur

Overall a very nice stay, good food and lovely staff.  The animation team were superb with a variety of daytime sesions to get involved in like wine and cheese tasting, liquers and making Sangria.  This was my first stay at a Barcelo hotel and while they say it's a 5 star hotel, I would say it's a 4 star due to not all drinks included, a charge for eating at the restaurants and to use the in room safe.  In my opinion, it's either all inclusive or it's not.  Look at Dreams, Secrets and H10 and see what they do, especially when they say it's a 5 star hotel.
Having said all that, the hotel was what we wanted, not in a busy area away from the crowds.  The hotel is very nice, food in the buffet was really nice and the puddings / sweets were to die for.  Evening entertainment was mixed, but in general very good.  Would I go to this or another Barcelo hotel again, probably, but if there was a Dreams or Secrets hotel next door, I would probably go there for those little extras.

The Barceló Tenerife 5*, which has been completely renovated in 2022, has 272 fully equipped rooms, a buffet restaurant, 2 à la carte restaurants, several bars, as well as a concert hall. There are 7 swimming pools, two of them for children, one for adults only and one heated.
