From reading the reviews on here my sister and I were expecting a pleasant all-inclusive holiday at this hotel and this far from what we experienced. 

I will start with the positives as it wasn’t all bad… 

Most of the bar and entertainment staff were very friendly and would make the effort to have a conversation with you and make sure you had an enjoyable time. 

The pool areas were pleasant with plenty of sunbeds so there were no fights for beds in the morning. We spent most of our time around the main pool and this pool was always spotless and the water was very refreshing in the heat. 

Easy access to the beach and a lovely jetty with sunbeds at the end to sunbathe on. 

You don’t have to walk far to get food or drink or go to the toilet wherever you are during the day, be it by the pool or beach. There are fridges with bottled water by all the bars, so it is easy for you to grab one whenever you need.

The spa treatments were lovely. Would highly recommend the Turkish bath! 

The backdrop of the mountains for the hotel is beautiful and the sea is crystal clear.

Now for the bad points…

We arrived late at night due to our flight being delayed and were greeted by the most unhelpful and rude reception staff we have ever come across. They did not give us any information about our stay, where things were, facilities available, mealtimes etc. nor did they give us the wrist band to show we were all inclusive for our stay. 
Usually when I have arrived late at a hotel, they offer you a small bite to eat acknowledging you will have been travelling most of the day, but we were literally taken to our room and left there without being offered anything to eat or drink. 
All of the reception staff we met during our stay were not in the slightest bit helpful and quite frankly rude, they obviously didn’t care about the guests of the hotel or their experience during their stay.

The room itself was shocking – it is a room you would expect staff to be in, not paying guests! 
It was incredibly outdated, basic, small and not what you would expect in a 5-star hotel. 
The floors were dirty, the bathroom sink had a massive crack in it, the shower was tiny and not in good condition, the balcony door didn’t shut or lock properly, there were cigarette butts left on the balcony and the safe didn’t work. We were only given bottled water when we arrived, other than that it was not provided in the room. 

Then when we both laid on the bed for the first time, we were greeted by the hardest mattress we have both ever laid on. It was like sleeping on the floor not a bed! The sunbeds were more comfortable than the bed. I broke my pelvis a few years ago so I knew if I slept on this bed all week, I would be in pain by the end of it. We raised this with reception and were told all the beds were like this (which we later found out was not the case) so we then went to our TUI rep and guest relations to explain why I couldn’t spend the week on this bed – nothing was done to resolve this issue, and I came home with bad back pain from the bed. 
Throughout the stay, the bedding often smelt of stale cigarette smoke and one day had someone else’s blood on the sheets. 

For the first two days we didn’t have any hot water and hardly any water pressure, we would get out of the shower shivering! One night we had no water in our room at all. The temperature of the water is the only thing out of the issues I raised that guest relations did get sorted as we did have warm water from day three onwards. The shower itself was very small, scummy and old and in need of updating. 

We found out towards the end of our stay that other guests had issues with their room that were not half as significant as the issues we had raised, and they were moved rooms into ones that had clearly been renovated and were more of the standard you would expect at a 5-star hotel. We suspect that my sister and I were not moved as we were two females but if we had been there with a male partner, it may have been a different story. 

The location of this hotel is also not as advertised. TUI has this hotel advertised as being in Kemer, so from researching this location we thought we would be able to easily access the marina and shops in Kemer as we like to get out and explore different places when on holiday. This hotel is NOT in Kemer, it is in Beldibi which is about a 30–40-minute bus ride away from the marina. This meant we felt a little trapped in the hotel as there is absolutely nothing around the hotel other than a little convenience store over the road and lots more hotels. 

We were shocked to find out that we were expected to pay 10 euros each to be able to use the wi-fi for the week and became incredibly frustrated that we had to pay for it when it very rarely worked unless we were in our room, even then it often dropped out. 
We raised this with reception on check out and were shrugged at and told the system says we must pay so we had to pay. They wouldn’t even acknowledge our issues with this, and we were told we had to pay it there and then even though we were still there all day as that is what their system says. Our TUI rep was sat behind us for this whole conversation and didn’t once come to offer support or see if she could help resolve the issue for us. 

The entertainment is quite repetitive in the evening and the kids’ disco is on at about 8.30 each evening which is quite late for kids but also for those at the hotel without kids, means you have to sit and listen to incredibly annoying music for at least half an hour whilst trying to enjoy drinks in the evening. 

The food was often repetitive and very rarely warm. There is the Al a Carte restaurant but only the fish one is included for one meal with all inclusive, the meat option you have to pay and extra fee per guest. 
On the fifth day of our stay, I became very unwell with an upset stomach, so much so that I couldn’t eat anything for the last 3 days of our holiday and could only stomach water or Pepsi. I was only able to eat a normal meal again 3 days after I had returned home. 

When it came to check out day, I did the usual thing we all do of checking under the bed to make sure nothing had rolled under there, only to find that there was a plate of mouldy food left under the bed from previous guests. This is absolutely disgusting, and we were appalled that we had slept with this under our bed all week. 

We did meet other guests who did have a lovely room and shower etc. as they were clearly in rooms that had been modernised and made into what we expected to have when we arrived at the hotel but based on our stay, I would most definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Honest review of our stay at the Champion Holiday Village in September 2024.

We did have a lovely time in the beautiful sunshine and the hotel grounds were lovely.  We absolutely loved the wildlife, birds, hens, roosters, and of course the lovely cats and their baby kittens.  We mostly visited the quiet pool which was a delight and the lovely beach where we enjoyed swimming, not forgetting the beautiful sunrise which really made our holiday.  

However, there are some things that need to be addressed about this hotel.  I read a lot of the reviews before we arrived but wanted to give the benefit of the doubt.  I am therefore so disappointed that I found most of the previous comments are correct, I was hoping I was going to be proved wrong, but sadly not.

What is the most disappointing is that time and time again people write these reviews, the management say they appreciate the feedback, but sadly , time and time again they do nothing about it.  With that said it is probably a good idea for the management not to comment on my review, as it will absolutely fall on deaf ears.  I write the review therefore to give my honest opinion for other holiday makers who are visiting this hotel.

It is fair to say that the holiday we booked through TUI was a bit of a bargain, so I wasn’t expecting too much, however, what I do expect is cleanliness irrespective of cost and this is where my main issue lies:

Reception: We arrived late at night (after having a road traffic accident with the guy who was driving the mini bus).  I appreciate this is not the hotel’s fault but to arrive in a reception area that had a strong smell of cigarette smoke and that it was evidently dirty did not lift our spirits.  Upon visiting the toilet at reception, again, dirty, no loo roll and there was no soap in the dispensers so no, first impressions were not good. I do wish to point out thought that the young guys checking us in, did it swiftly and unlike other reviews have said, they spoke very good English.  We later found that this was every staff member we encountered, so I don’t understand why people say there is very little English spoken, I would like them to try to speak Turkish!

Room: On first impressions the room was fine, but later through the holiday we realised this was not the case.  This is simply because housekeeping is non-existent.  You will have towel changes, bed linen changes and loo roll replenished but that is it.  There is no sweeping or mopping of floors that would be of usual standard for a hotel especially that you are on holiday, but sadly no, this didn’t happen.  The dressing table had a glass cover, so fingerprints were constantly there, so I found myself cleaning it down myself as well as the loo and wash basin.  We often brought drinks to the room and unlike in other hotels, the glasses were never taken away.  I don’t need waiting on hand and foot but if you had a coffee or tea in your room the cups were never washed, so on the odd occasion when I didn’t wash them myself it would just stand there until I washed them.  These are just the little things that make you feel you are being looked after, because after all, you are on holiday.

The first shower we took, the water pooled around our ankles, and we had to report this thankfully, and to their credit, the issue was rectified quickly.  Then the bed linen; I appreciate Turkey is an incredibly hot country, and when we were there in October it reached 38 degrees but the bed linen was non-existent.  There was a bottom sheet and a “cloth” on top of the bed that barely covered you.  The next morning I found 2 quilted blankets but they had no covers on them, however, we used them and one day housekeeping added a cover, we felt it was a bit of a luxury!!! But then the next day it was taken off !!! I just don’t get it!

The aircon was excellent and even in October we needed it, this was the saving grace of the room.

Main restaurant: We arrived late at night and were told that there was some food available in the dining room.  This was basically lettuce leaves, olives, bread, stone cold pasta, no pasta sauce and a small offering of cake.  The bottled water was plentiful though.

First impressions of breakfast the next day was good but absolutely nothing healthy at all to eat.  Fried eggs, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, omelette, hot dogs, processed ‘sausage’ of what sort, we have no idea! There were no smoothies, cereals such as muesli, granola that sort of thing. 

First impressions of the evening meal were also good but sadly the meals repeated every night. For us, we did not find the food cold as some have reported, however, what was evident was meals were reinvented and served up the next day.  I attempted a bowl of chicken soup as I was coming down with a cold, my goodness when I dipped in the ladle the grease sat on the top and when I got it back to the table it tasted like salt water. The salads were good, and the grilled meat was also good so managed to find something to eat.  The desserts were fabulous.  What really shocked me was the chef! He was always in the restaurant, however on 2 occasions I saw him being excessively rude to 2 staff members.  One occasion I was waiting for grilled chicken he came past and started to clap his hands at the young guy who was cooking it.  He seemed to order him to hurry up, the guy cooking looked uncomfortable.  Let me just say I don’t need anyone to order my food to be cooked quicker especially chicken, it is cooked when it is cooked right?  I had no issue waiting but I was disgusted how he treated this young chap, why not pop behind the grill and give your kitchen staff a hand?  There was another occasion at breakfast when they swop the food over to one station for the late breakfast.  Again, he came along clapping his hands at a young girl as if to order she was not moving the food quick enough.  If this is what I witnessed in the dining hall, I can’t imagine what goes on in the kitchen.

You need to go to the bar in the restaurant if you want drinks, on a few rare occasions wine was brought to the table.

Tables are not cleared quick enough, so it means you are hunting for a table, the tables are then not set and you need to find your own cutlery and sometimes laying your own table cloth.

There is one guy who works in the main restaurant, and I can’t remember his name but he literally holds the place together.  Running practically from one table to the next.  He was great.  After his shift he then comes down to keep everything moving in the bar. Always smiling and happy!

Snack Bar : The staff here were lovely, it is table service of burgers, chicken nuggets, pizza that sort of thing and a salad bar that also serves fruit.

Towels : Hit and miss to collect clean towels

Quiet Pool : The guy here was so friendly but what put me off is he would smoke while serving your drinks.  We did not go to the big pool it was too noisy.

Entertainment : We saw a couple of good acrobat acts which were good.  The singers / bands were absolutely dire, they had problems with the sound system, one of the acts literally could not sing in tune, it was skin crawling.

Guest Relations :  I contacted the hotel before we arrived to let them know we had a celebration, it was never acknowledged like you often get at other hotels. There was nothing memorable about guests services at all !!  We had a late pick for the airport and when I asked guest relations if there was a shower facility, we were told we would have to use the pool showers! No courtesy room, you can hold onto your room, but you have to ask about this on the morning of your departure, you are then charged 10euro per hour after the check-out time.  In our case it would have been 70euro.

There was a meet and greet most nights in the restaurant, I honestly could not see the purpose of this, especially when guest surveys were issued out.  But why? there are so many things to act on from Trips Advisor reviews.  If they are ignored, I can’t imagine the surveys are even read.

Onsite Bazar : I forgot my toothbrush and popped in to buy one, I declined at 10euro ! there is a shop over the road where I bought one for 3 euro.

I have pointed out the good points of this hotel in the first couple of paragraphs and as I said before we did have a nice holiday, but this was mainly due to the lovely surroundings.  As I have already mentioned it is the fact that this hotel responds to reviews but do absolutely nothing about the feedback.  Once again, we did book last minute and for that I cannot overly complain we had glorious weather, and we were able to relax.

I would not recommend or come back to this hotel on the principal the hotel do nothing with the feedback they are given, what’s more they apologise, but nothing is done.

I have been as honest as possible with this review and maybe, just maybe, there might be some improvement for other guests!

Further to my previous review my partner is still receiving treatment on her injured knee . But despite this we have not recieved any form of apology or  compensation from hotel or jet2 holidays . Which we  find totally unacceptable.  We have been coming to this hotel for several years and think of it as our favorite holiday destination.  We are going to return in September 2025 & hope the hotel has taken note of all my comments on my previous review . I have sent an email to request for room 102 as we have stayed in this room in the past & it's ideal for us due to it's close proximity to all the hotel amenities.  I hope that my next review will show that the hotel has taken all points seriously & our holiday will be as it should be accident free , enjoyable ,excellent food & rooms cleaned correctly.
