I booked a last minute trip to Turkey and chose to stay at the Cooks Club as it was reasonably priced.

The good:
- Adults only
- Food was hands down brilliant. No buffets at dinner or lunch but rather freshly cooked and with nice accompaniments.
- The resort is brilliant for relaxing and quiet with ambient music from a dj each day.
- Water taxi into Marmaris was brilliant.
- The setting was lovely.
- Room was nicely decorated and had everything one would need.
- Most staff were extremity friendly and welcoming.

Could be better:
- If staff wore uniform or had something to make them identifiable like a name badge.
- Larger variety of drinks included in the all inclusive package.
- More nightly entertainment/ socialising opportunities.
- Table service for drinks and someone coming round those sitting round the pool would be nice.

All in all a great hotel, the food is the most memorable part in addition to the tranquility of the resort.

Relaxing and Great Food

We went to Icmeler for a fortnight in October 2024... except we didn't as our hotel closed down for the season halfway through our stay! 

Our reps swooped in and offered us two replacement hotels - one in the centre of Marmaris, which we had walked past along the beachfront promenade every day... and the other Cooks Club Adakoy, all the way around the other side of the bay. I can't say we gave it much thought as a centre of Marmaris hotel did not tick any of our boxes in terms of requirements for a holiday, so it was Cooks Club by default.

We were nervous ahead of our transfer as we were moving from a hotel we loved, and had stayed at in previous years, to an unknown quantity. We were concerned that a lot of the reviews spoke of the 'vibe' at Cooks Club... we didn't want a vibe, we wanted a place to relax, read our kindles, swim in the sea and run / walk. We needn’t have worried.

Check in didn’t give us the best first impression… we were left in reception for around 45 minutes whilst our room was prepared, however I put that down to being an ‘emergency transfer’ from another hotel, and to being a little bit fussy on account of my apparent snoring / wriggling meaning we needed separate beds despite travelling as a couple (the secret to a happy relationship is definitely separate beds!). It would have been nice to have been kept informed of the check in delay better than we were or maybe offered a drink whilst we waited, however it wasn’t a big issue.

Following check in we were taken to our room, which was exactly as we’d expected from researching the hotel ahead of our transfer – the room was clean, spacious and had everything we needed for a week long stay… there wasn’t much space to place clothes but that didn’t come as a surprise and nor did it cause us any issue – the open clothes rack by the door was sufficient to hang up what needed hanging up and there were plenty of surfaces on which to place other clothes. The room had a nice balcony, though we didn’t make much use of it other than hanging clothes out to dry after washing them. The lighting in the room was quite low, but again that wasn’t a surprise and wasn’t an issue – we have low lighting in our own house so were used to it and the lighting was more than sufficient. The bathroom had everything you’d need. The air conditioning was amazing for cooling down after a day in the sun.

During the day we spent most of our time at the beach area, looking out at the pier and the beautiful bay beyond. The setting for the hotel really is stunning – forested hills to the rear and the bay right in front of you. Perfection. Unfortunately, the sun appears over the hills so if you’re intent on catching some rays you need to turn your back on the bay. The beach was a lovely area to relax with the only real interruption from the peace and quiet being the occasional quack of the resident ducks, who we loved… they’d often put themselves to sleep next to our lounger during the day and it was entertaining seeing them waddle about when not resting. The poolside area was also nice, however we spent no time there as that was where the ‘vibe’, and the music, was most evident. The poolside music wasn’t invasive at any point during the day and didn’t stop us reading or relaxing, though if you were closer to the pool than we located ourselves it would undoubtedly be more of a factor – as it is you definitely had a clear choice… by the pool to listen to the chilled out music or by the beach to enjoy the quiet.

The sea was very calm throughout our stay and I imagine is very calm throughout the year… it’s scary deep around the pier and beyond so not ideal for people who aren’t confident swimmers, however it was relatively clear and there were plenty of little fishes to look at. My partner is an avid swimmer so the designated swimming area – a triangular shape jutting out around 50 metres or so – was too small for her, however she went beyond the boundary each morning without issue, despite there being a marina immediately next to the hotel… just be aware that there may be passing boats and you’ll be ok. There were activities each morning, including stand up paddleboarding… we didn’t partake in these activities but they looked well organised and lots of fun… maybe next time…

There was a programme of activities throughout the day, mainly yoga / pilates, water sports, etc and these had a healthy take up… there were no attempts to ‘sell’ these activities to you if you weren’t interested… just pop your name down on the sheet at reception and turn up for the activity; if you didn’t do that then you weren’t harassed at all, which was great. The one activity we did do was the daily treks, led by Sevki, which I can thoroughly recommend if you are interested in seeing the national park which surrounds the hotel. Be warned the hill to exit the hotel is STEEP, its not long (maybe 300m) but you’ll gain about 60m of altitude, making a gradient of about 15-20%. Once you’ve got through the initial uphill slog you get to the park itself, where you’ll see a pretty nice cave, a lovely viewpoint and well defined tracks through the park. The treks last around an hour each and give you a good base to explore for yourself if you so wish; the trails don’t ever seem to get busy (at least not during our stay) and we didn’t see anyone else when we ventured out on our own.

Evenings at Cooks Club Adakoy are really chilled; the bar is a lovely setting to relax at, the music isn’t too loud so doesn’t impinge on your ability to chat at all. There is definitely a ‘vibe’ but its not overbearing. There were a couple of beach cinema nights during our stay, however we didn’t partake in them as we were early to bed. Our room overlooked the pool and the bar where music played, however the sound proofing of the room was sufficient that if you had your windows closed you wouldn’t notice anything was going on outside your room at all. At no point did the evening entertainment impinge on our sleep, despite us not being night owls.

The food at the hotel is great – a canteen style vibe where you get most food cooked fresh for you. At breakfast there was a plentiful supply of bread and pastries for self-serve, as well as cheeses, cold meats and salad / fruit. Beyond that you could request a freshly made omelette, pancake, fried egg, etc. We didn’t tend to bother with lunch as we filled up at breakfast, however the lunch menu looked amazing if you had the appetite for it or went light at breakfast. Dinner in the evening was a delight with a great selection of food catering for all sorts of tastes and dietary requirements… we had no requirements so couldn’t actually vouch for what it was like to have an intolerance but the selection was plentiful.

The bar was nice with an amazing array of drinks on display; we tended to go very basic with soft drinks during the day and beer / raki in an evening but if you wanted to go more adventurous then most options were available (for a cost).

We were all-inclusive during our stay and unless you eat or drink very lightly I wouldn’t recommend anything less – non all-inclusive prices seem to be quite expensive, but arguably justifiable when you consider the quality of the food and of the premium location of the hotel; we were blown away by the quality of the food, we probably would have felt it was value for money if paid for separately, though we’d probably have taken the water taxi to Marmaris to get some more ‘basic food’ to keep costs down.

All the staff at Cooks Club Adakoy were friendly, it’s a ‘light touch’ hotel in so much as if you don’t have a reason to interact with staff you’ll likely not see them – this is good in so much as they don’t try to impose themselves on you and they simply leave you to enjoy your holiday. The var staff and those at the food canteen were the ones we most interacted with and they always greeted us with a smile and made us feel welcome. There are tip boxes at the bar, the canteen and the reception however you don’t in any way feel inclined to tip, which made it all the easier to tip for the great service and food served to you!

Finally, lets talk again about that ‘vibe’… there is definitely a vibe. But what is it? As someone who was airlifted into the hotel from somewhere else I’d probably sum it up by saying it’s a higher end resort with a higher end clientele… rocking up with my ‘normal’ holiday attire (cheap flowery swimming shorts and cheap t-shirts) I felt incredibly underdressed by the beach compared to the ‘instagram ready’ people wearing insta-perfect linen shirts and shorts in this seasons latest pastel shades. Evenings could be equally high end, with some people dressed up like Paris fashion week, and I again felt incredibly underdressed compared to some! However, I cannot stress how much the general ‘vibe’ did not impinge on our holiday, I didn’t feel unwelcome at all.

My perception of the hotel was probably skewed by the fact we didn’t pay what someone would normally pay to visit – we did it on the cheap thanks to our holiday provider ‘upgrading’ us as a result of our hotel closing. We wouldn’t hesitate to visit again, paying full price, and we plan to do so sooner rather than later… maybe next time I’ll just take some nicer clothes to hang out in of an evening… however, if you think I’m getting rid of my flowery beach shorts you’ve got another thing coming…

A Beautiful Resort In Every Way

We stayed for a week mid October looking for a week of relaxation, sun and great food and Cooks club did not disappoint. From the moment we arrived until we left, we could not fault the resort and would not hesitate to return.

Starting with Jet2, flight and transfers were great and incredibly easy. We were directed to our bus as resort was a 90 minute drive away and only had one other stop on the way. When arriving at the other resort we were greeted by a large dinning room full of holiday makers with sweet Caroline blarring out.  Both myself and partner concerned about how our resort would be as we are definitely not "brits abroad". However on arrival to Cooks club we were instantly relieved as it was far from the "brits abroad" vibe of the other resort and oozed luxury and relaxation. We arrived at night so were excited to see the resort the following morning. 

We went for a standard room as felt we would be on the beach most days and would only be in there to sleep and we were happy with the room and enjoyed the bohoo feel. The view from the balcony was not great, however we spent no time there and did actually see some wild boar which was nice.

The resort itself was stunning, honestly the pictures do not do it justice and it certainly lived up to its "vibe" feeling. Everyone there was chilled and relaxed, no issues with beds on the beach as there were plenty. 

Food was amazing, we enjoyed every meal and the choices were great and for a couple of foodies we were very impressed. This is not your usual all inclusive buffet, all food is freshly prepared and made to order, we had freshly made hand rolled sushi most lunch times, beautiful salmon dishes, desserts, pastas, meats and pizzas. Breakfast options were fantastic and we very much enjoyed all options.

Drink options were great, we did not need to pay for additional alcoholic drinks as the bar staff made us lovely cuba Libras, rum, coke and lime juice, however the quality of these was dependant on who served you, this was the same with the coffees, I soon learned who could make a good cocktail and latte and who was not great, but this was not an issue and I would change my choice based on the staff available. Speaking of the staff they were all fantastic. Very polite, friendly and made us feel at ease. 

Myself and partner both love the sea and took our snorkeling gear and the water here was stunning, it was warm and when snorkeling was like swimming in an aquarium. If you do not have your own gear you can buy a set at the small hotel shop at a reasonable price and it is well worth it, we spent hours swimming with the fishes. We are avid paddleboarders and asked if we could use the boards and not have a guided tour which the hotel granted, we spent 2 hours paddling out to the island across the water and we paddled all around and back to the resort which was lovely, however the paddleboards are not premium or pumped up enough so it was like trying to stand on a lilo, however we enjoyed it all the same.

There were lots of good options for activities, yoga every day, hikes, boat tours etc. We did an evening hike and the start of this nearly killed us, but persevere as it is only the start and it is well worth the trek to see the stunning view.

We also booked the daily boat tour which comes from Marmaris and we would highly recommend this, the food on the boat was lovely and the stops for swimming and snorkeling were stunning and we even found a wild sea turtle who we swam with which was a moment we will never forget. 

On our last day we did the spa, which was an interesting experience and you get what you pay for there and it provided plenty of laughs for us, but this is not a 5 star spa that you would have in the UK so if you go bear that in mind. 

Overall, our week at Cooks Club was fantastic it exceeded our expectations and we will definitely be returning and have recommended the resort to friends and family. If you want a week of pure relaxation, sun, beautiful scenery and fantastic food this is the place for you!

Relaxation in pure paradise

A wonderful resort. My wife and I had a 7 night break here in September 2024. It was just fantastic.

The hotel was spotless, the staff were amazing and the amenities were first rate.

We particularly enjoyed the cinema evening on the beach and the cocktail classes.

The trip to Marmaris was just splendid.

This is a great adult destination. There's not much for kids to do, but if sitting by the pool, or lounging by the idyllic waters at the private beach, sipping a cocktail and recharging your batteries is what you're after, this is the place to do it.

Be mindful, the taxi from the nearest airport to the resort is approximately 90 minutes. It's not a bad journey at all. The  shuttle drivers are super friendly and are happy to serve you a beer or wine during your trip. 

A fantastic adult holiday resort

This is a stunning adult only hotel, nestled in a beautiful private bay with a gorgeous small private shale beach right next to the stunning pool. Our room was stunning with a balcony with gorgeous sea views. All the food was freshly made to order. We loved having a fresh barista coffee next to the pool with Ibiza chill out vibes wafting out over the pool and beach. We enjoyed sunset yoga next to the beach listening to the waves lapping at the edge. The service the staff provided could not have been better. We enjoyed a day shopping in Marmaris getting the frequent water taxi outside the hotel. We loved the spa it was the best we have been to. We will most definitely be back. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
