Beach

Staff was very attentive food and drinks were very good. Poolside was always clean. Beach was clean well taken care of. Children friendly resort, but you hardly knew there were any children there. We went on a couple excursions felt very safe.

Best place to go in February

Great resort, clean, excellent customer service, delicious food, not a crazy party experience so if you want a rager place, skip this one. More relaxed and quiet (but not dull).  Entertainment on Mexican night was impressive! 
A lovely spot.

Recommended, beautiful, clean, relaxed

We travelled as a family of 4 (husband and 2 kids ages 4 and 7) from February 12-19. We had a joined room with my mom. We did the upgrade and were happy we did. The rooms are top notch and have amazing views of the marina and city. We were on the 15th floor. The beds were probably the comfiest I have ever stayed in a hotel! We were also with my sister and her family who were on floor 12 as she got a plunge pool (these rooms are on different floors than the non plunge pool upgraded rooms). 

You must beware to Not have the balcony doors open while opening your door to leave/come in the room. The wind is extremely powerful and can easily hurt someone! One of the closet doors broke off the first night and luckily we caught it. Otherwise this is a huge hazard and could have hurt someone. Same goes for leaving the joining doors open. But again, the rooms are beautiful and modern. We really loved our rooms! There were a few days we couldn't sit at the end of the pool near the ocean because of the wind. No umbrellas could open as they would fall over, and the lounge chairs would fold over as the wind was so strong.

Everything can be found using the app. Its really handy and easy to navigate but I didnt like this. I like to disconnect when on holidays but i was forced to use my phone to make reservations, order room service, view drink and food menus, find events, house keeping etc. 

There are next to no physical menus at the bars, so again you had to order from memory or pull out the app.

The kids club was great and had lots of activities throughout the stay. This was extremely safe! It was open from around 9:00am-10:00pm. The splash park was also great and provided shade during most of the day. It was cooler but this did not bother my kids. They also enjoyed using the wave rider, which was open 1-2 times per day. 

The food was incredible for the majority. The sushi bar was fantastic and our meals at Vista Prime were wonderful. The hotel also advertises itself as no reservations required.. however if you go down and there isnt a table open you may be forced to wait 1-2 hours.. the one night we waited about 2.5 hours to eat at the Japanese restaurant. This was unacceptable. We were happy we could eat at the Vista Prime with our kids as we did not have to play the waiting game.

The room service was also really easy to use and came right on time! We ordered it a few times for our kids. You could order about 1 hour in advance and would arrive almost exactly on time. The food was warm and delicious.

We briefly used the rooftop pool as children are not allowed. We were there from about 1030am-12:00pm one day. It was crowded and quiet and the water was HOT. This would be a great place to be on a rainy day or looking to read a book. The views are very cool but we were much happier by the pool. 

The beach is small but we knew this. My daughter was also able to paddle board on one of the calmer days. The hammocks were fun in the ocean! A decent amount of coral but overall it was fine. My 4 year old son loved collecting sea shells. There was also a small amount of lounge chairs down by the water. Even as a preferred member, we often did not get chairs by the water.

As an upgraded member, we had access to the privilege lounge on the 9th floor. Here they had smaller snacks and preferred alcohol. We also did the free hydrotherapy circuit at the spa which my mom and i enjoyed.

We took the ferry to Isla one day. We took an uber which was really safe and cost about 30 pesos one way. Its close enough to walk but with my mom and young kids we took a ride.

Overall we enjoyed this resort. It was windy and this did have an impact on our stay, but we did have a really good time and had lots of drinks by the pool. Special shoutout to Kendor who always made sure to replace our empty glasses by the pool! Did not give it a 5 star due to the wind constantly being an issue as well as the difficulty getting into restaurants. Would consider returning in the future.

Amazing Week, but Windy!

I was incredibly skeptical about this hotel and wanted to change it a few days before leaving, but I'm glad I didn't. 

My partner and I traveled with our 3&5 year old and my parents. We were preferred, but not sure we were able to use all the benefits because we almost always had the kids. 

Kids Club: we used it a few times. Kids enjoyed it. No issues. Reception said the age was 4 but the sign said 3. They don't all for ID just registration.  

Splash pad: shady and windy. Water is cold. It gets sun only in the late afternoon. Kids mostly doesn't mind. It was a good break to get out of the sun.  Kids enjoyed the surfing and my 5 year old dogs the rock climbing (both only run scheduled times)  

Food: really good. Really really good. Best I've had at an all inclusive.  Buffets and restaurants were both good. Reservations open 3-5 so easier to get (not already booked for the week when you arrive).  

Beach: small waves. Little seaweed that was constantly being cleaned. Beach area small both in length and depth. Adequate for small kids to play in the sand. Beach shoes would make it more enjoyable as the water has lots of shells. 

Rooms: clean,  modern.  Nice view. It said queen beds but they were smaller than expected. I hated the pillows.  Lots of water in room. Shower was lovely. 

Doctor: my daughter got an ear infection 2 days before leaving as a we saw the on-site doctor. 285$ plus medication we got at the pharmacy (cheap). Felt the experience was a bit expensive and they were trying to over treat her bc they knew we had insurance.

Overall however very satisfied.

Surprisingly very satisfied

I would like to rate this resort higher but sadly we had a very disappointing and scary experience. I’ve contacted both the manager on duty at the time of our crisis as well as the general resort email address and received no reply, so to Tripadvisor we go 

My 9 year old son contracted a parasite during our stay at this resort resorting in Amoebic Dysentery also known as Amoebiasis.  He ended up in the hospital for testing, diagnosis, and treatment. We were two days delayed getting home and he was sickest I’ve ever seen him. Once we returned home we had the rest of the family tested and it turns out we all also have salmonella. 

Three of us on antibiotics for parasites and then also stopping antibiotics due to competing with salmonella. What a nightmare. 

We won’t be returning. Partly due to these bacterias that come about with bad hygiene practices in food preparation but also because the resort hasn’t checked in on us at all and hasn’t responded to correspondence.

We were there from Feb 14-20, just in case anyone else was ill at the same time.
